Abstract
In this paper a four-quadrant drive with a double IGBT-inverter, a pendulum dynamometer, and a high performance DSP-system was presented. The utility side inverter control is able to recirculate fast changing power demand with low distortions and unique power factor to the supply network. The field-oriented control of the induction machine ensures rated torque from standstill to rated speed and makes a wide constant power range available. Priority was placed on fast and precise torque control. Both torque generation and mechanical torque measurement is done with a specially designed asynchronous machine. The implemented torque calculator completes the system during transient states. The drive is designed to operate as a fast and precise dynamometric brake. Its adaptable software structure and control and parameterization via an industry bus connection makes is appropriate for any professional development application.
