Abstract

Dynamic field-induced birefringence in magnetic fluids is studied with the aid of the generalized Fokker–Planck equation that takes into account both internal (magnetic) and external (mechanical) orientational motions of the particles. The solution found accounts for the variety of cases and unites several former models.
