Abstract
In this paper, the dynamic behaviour of composite beam which is embedded shape memory alloy (SMA) wires is studied through experimental program. In this study the Ni- 55.4 %-56.2 % SMA wires were used. Some factors which are affecting on the dynamic behaviour of composite beam are examined experimentally. These factors include the number of SMA wires, the pre-strain of the SMA wire, the volume fraction of the embedded SMA wires, also the effect of current. The experimental results indicate that the axial force in the composite beam is obtained when the SMA wires are heated by means of current. The maximum frequency is measured at 1.5 amps, after that frequency continuously reducing because of increase in temperature of beam.
