Abstract

ABSTRACT To investigate the dynamic behavior of fine particles under the action of airflow, the airflow in the dry medium-intensity magnetic separator need to be accurately simulated. In this study, k–ε and low Reynolds number k–ε turbulence model are employed to model the airflow. The location and dynamic behavior of fine particles are calculated by particle tracing for fluid flow module. The separation efficiency is evaluated based on the predicted results of grade and recovery. The results show that the low Reynolds number k–ε turbulence model is more suitable for modeling the airflow in dry medium-intensity magnetic separator.
