Abstract

The objective of this experimental study is to verify the theoretical predication on natural frequencies and dynamic forces. Both theoretical and experimental results are summarized for one-loop, two-loop, and three-loop modes. Theoretical and experimental resonant frequencies agree fairly well. However, there exist some differences between dynamic forces obtained theoretically and experimentally, particularly for the two-loop mode. It appears that the measured logarithmic decay of the pylône à chaînette line is much greater than the counterpart of the conventional line and that the measured logarithmic decay is reported on an “as is” basis.
