Abstract

This study investigates the response of telecommunication tower with single and combination of bracings subjected to wind load. The steel telecommunication tower has been modelled with K, V, X, Linear and combination of bracings like KV, KX, VX, K&Linear, V&Linear and X&Linear. The study was carried out for all six Indian wind zones, for which alongside wind pressure has been determined using dynamic response factor, which is calculated at different heights of the tower. The response of the tower with different configurations has been presented in the form of displacement and weight of towers. The study shows that the tower with a combination of K&V bracing has the least displacement for all wind zones, whereas K bracing also shows comparable displacement as of K&V bracing. It was observed that the tower with K bracing has the least weight among singly equipped as well as the combination of bracings.
