Abstract
Vibration analysis and experimental study of a disk-spindle system in hard disk drives are presented in this paper. The natural frequencies, mode shapes, and frequency response are calculated with the consideration of the flexibility of rotor and base structures of a disk-spindle system. The analytical model is verified by comparing the simulation results with the experimental data for a variety of motor configurations and sizes. It is shown that they agree very well with each other.
