Abstract

This paper aims to demonstrate the efficiency improvement of dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) by introducing nanodiamond (ND) anti-reflection coating layer. The main challenge in the proposed method lies in finding optimal position for ND layer deposition on FTO glass. Experimental tests have been conducted to compare the developed ND coated cells with standard cell; prepared in the same method and conditions. As results, short circuit current density, power conversion efficiency and electron life time have been increased. The best performance showed a spin coating of 0.3 wt% of ND suspension on the both sides of FTO layer; with a current density of 14.27 mA/cm2 and light-to-electricity conversion efficiency of 5.13 %. It could get a 25.7 % efficiency improvement as compared with the standard DSSC.
