Abstract

In this research article, amplification of 16-channel Dense wavelength division multiplexing (DWDM) system is tested by using Erbium doped fiber. The gain of EDFA is set in the range of 18.5 dB to 32 dB for a pump power of 250 mW. The system design is analyzed for different parameters of Erbium doped fiber. The concentration of Erbium ions is changed to check the performance of the system and best performance is obtained by taking the concentration as 1010 ppm-wt. BER value of DWDM system is found to be improved. Also, BER values are taken for all the 16-Channels of DWDM by using 16 Avalanche pin photodiodes (APD). Standard wavelength 980 nm is used for the pump power.
