Abstract

The frequency modulation of the Harvard synchrocyclotron was changed by redesigning the rotating condenser Frequency curves and tooth shapes are presented graphi cally. Peak beam intensity was reduced while keeping average intensity constant. Dead time losses and random coincidence events which depend on the square of the beam intensity were reduced; the average rate of nuclear events, which depends on the average beam intensity, was unchanged.
