Abstract

This paper takes a specific look at the work of important seventeenth century Dutch architects and documentary sources which may have influenced, either directly or indirectly, one of Scotland's most prominent architects of the same period. Dutch and English classicism are noted as having an important impact on the architect's work, but also are Bruce's direct personal connections with Holland.
