Abstract

Dusty plasma experiments are often performed in rf dischargers at gas pressures between 1 Pa and 100 Pa. In this regime, the dynamics of micrometer sized dust particles are strongly influenced by neutral drag forces and electric fields. Experiments are presented where the dust is used as tracers for slow neutral gas flows excited mechanically or by an axial magnetic field. Furthermore it is found, that the mass of commonly used melamine particles does not remain constant over time. This work was founded by the SFB‐TR24, project A2.
