Abstract

We derive a Korteweg–de Vries (KDV) equation to describe the nonlinear propagation of dust-acoustic waves (DAWs) in weakly non-ideal dusty plasmas consisting of electrons, ions and dust particles by incorporating the van der Waals equation of state for the latter species. The contributions due to the non-ideal behaviour of the dust component to the DAW soliton width and amplitude are discussed.
