Abstract

Children referred to the Headache Center at Children’s Hospital Medical Center, Cincinnati, OH, Sept 1996-June 1997, were evaluated for clinical characteristics of the headaches, using criteria of the International Headache Society (IHS), and older criteria by Vahlquist and Prensky and Sommer for comparison.

Introduction

Cincinnati, OH, Sept 1996-June 1997, were evaluated for clinical characteristics of the headaches, using criteria of the International Headache Society (IHS), and older criteria by Vahlquist and Prensky and Sommer for comparison. In a study of 600 cases of rheumatic fever seen between 1971 and 1999 and evaluated at the Primary Children's Medical Center, Salt Lake City, UT, 142 (24%) had rheumatic chorea, and 69 (49%) received treatment, 57 with prednisone.
