Abstract
Whereas previous chapters have reported on durability of SHCC composite as a whole, this chapter addresses the durability of the fibres. In particular, the durability of the fibres in the alkaline paste environment, at elevated temperature and exposed to various chemical substances is considered here. It is noted that various fibre types can be used to produce SHCC. However, due to limited test results on fibre durability in SHCC, the discussion here is limited to a few fibre types, notably Polyvinyl Alcohol (PVA) fibre.
