Abstract

A 71-year-old man presented to the emergency department with melena and severe anemia. One month earlier tinzaparin had been started because of atrial fibrillation. Another 3 months earlier thyroidectomy had been performed for suspected thyroid cancer. Angiosarcoma of the thyroid gland was diagnosed in the resection specimen and palliative chemotherapy with paclitaxel was started because of lung metastasis. Endoscopy revealed multiple reddish lesions with slightly raised margins in the duodenum (Figure A).
