Abstract

Sucralfate is a gastroprotective agent known to strengthen mucosal defensive factors.[ll Local microcirculation plays a pivotal role in maintaining the integrity of the gastroduodenal mucosa and in promoting repair of mucosal injuries,l2l Sucralfate has the ability to increase gastric mucosal blood flow in both animals[3l and humans,[4l but its possible effects on duodenal perfusion are still to be determined. The aim of our study was to assess the behaviour of duodenal blood flow in sucralfate-treated patients with endoscopic gastric abnormalities but normal duodenal appearance.
