Abstract

Osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee is the most common form of this degenerative arthritic condition, with pain being its most common expression. Current treatment options include NSAIDs, corticosteroid injections, and opioid analgesics. Such agents have significant side effects. Duloxetine, a selective serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor, has been demonstrated to have analgesic properties. This study investigated its efficacy in patients with painful OA of the knee.
