Abstract
COSMO-SkyMed (CSK) dual-polarized Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) data, acquired in PingPong mode, are first exploited to extract coastline. A dual-polarization model that takes full benefit of the PingPong mode peculiarities is developed to distinguish sea surface from land. Following this rationale, a physically-based filtering technique is proposed to extract the coastline in full-resolution CSK SAR data. Experiments confirm the soundness of the proposed approach and its effectiveness in terms of processing time.
