Abstract

A novel, dual-mode planar circularly polarized (CP) antenna with an end-fire radiation beam in parallel with its plane is proposed and numerically investigated. The antenna consists of an aperture and a printed dipole. A pair of stubs are unilaterally loaded along the dipole, and used to generate a dual-mode radiation characteristic. As simulated, it is observed that the impedance bandwidth (20log|S11| < −10 dB) is about 9.39%, from 2.37 to 2.60 GHz and the 3-dB axial ratio (AR) bandwidth is about 16.73%, from 2.23 to 2.64 GHz.
