Abstract

A dual band antenna using defected ground plane for multipurpose wireless communication is proposed. The antenna is used twelve slot in a ground plane they work as electronics band gap tuning by tuning this we can tune the frequency for a different wireless communication application. In proposed design it works in a two band from 4.2 GHz to 5.1 GHz and 7 GHz to 13 GHz. The exciting patch or a radiator patch consist of U slot and separated ground and exciting patch through FR4 dielectric substrate. The radiation patch and ground is connected through Via hole of a 0.5mm. The structure of a design is compact and simple. The dimension of a proposed antenna is 18 x 14 x1.6 mm3 with respect to wavelength 0.3 $\lambda_{0}$ where $\lambda_{0}$ is a free space wavelength. The proposed design is suitable for multiple wireless communication likewise WLAN, WiMAX and for X band application. The bandwidth of a proposed antenna is 79% with VSWR<2, minimum return loss - 30dBi and directivity is 6dBi.
