Abstract

A new dual control scheme is proposed for stroke and phase compensation for the displacement of a linear compressor in a split‐Stirling cryocooler. This dual controller has two connected stroke and phase control loops, whose dynamic models are identified experimentally. These loops individually provide corrections which enable the stroke and phase of the compressor displacement to follow a sinusoidal command. Experimental results show that the dual stroke and phase control system is robust to parameter changes and external disturbances.
