Abstract

Candida dubliniensis is a relatively new recognized species, which is phylogenically and genotypically related to Candida albicans. –3 The vast majority of C. dubliniensis isolates have been identified in the oral cavity of immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infected adult patients with oral candidiasis. To the lesser extent, it has also been isolated in other sites of HIV and non-HIV-infected immunocompromised patients such as blood, sputum, vagina, faeces and urine. –8 C. dubliniensis infections in children have rarely been described. We report a child with chronic granulomatous disease (CGD) who presented with severe lung infection in which both Aspergillus fumigatus and C. dubliniensis were isolated in broncho-alveolarlavage (BAL) fluid.
