Abstract

This paper presents the design of a wide-bandwidth, dual-polarized aperture-coupled stacked patch (DPACSP) microstrip antenna. The stacked patch antenna can achieve high isolation, low cross polarization levels and low background radiation. It is capable of operating over a DSC-UMTS band and can be arranged in a uniform circular array. It offers satisfactory performance of desired radiation pattern as well as better impedance matching at the ports over wide bandwidth. The simulation results show good bandwidth as well as low back radiation. The isolation between the ports is better than -49.6 dB over a wide bandwidth, which yields better polarization purity
