Abstract

A new high-speed burner with a central intake has been developed, the burner ensuring that fuel can be burned with an excess air coefficient close to unity (without disruption of the flame). The temperature of the toroidal flame is within the range 1300–1400°C. The narrow 15–18° angle of divergence of the flame makes it possible to position it within the limited ‘bell-muffle’ space without having it come into contact with the muffle. This in turn makes it possible to increase the temperature of the flame compared to injection burners and to improve heat-exchange conditions in the ‘muffle — combustion products — inside surface of the bell’ system without overheating the muffle.
