Abstract

Electrical capacitance tomography (ECT) and electrical resistance tomography (ERT) have been successfully developed to visualise dielectric and conductive distributions respectively. However, monitoring complex multiphase flows involve imaging highly dynamic distributions, which are constantly changing between dielectric-dominant and conducive-dominant. In this work, a dual-modality ERT/ECT system is developed for imaging dielectric-dominant and conducive-dominant distributions simultaneously. With a 4-terminal measurement configuration, the system can reduce the effect of parasitic impedances, acquiring simultaneously capacitance and conductance using a single set of electrodes and a single data acquisition system.
