Abstract

A single inductor dual input-dual output dc-dc converter for renewable energy based power system is presented in this paper. The converter integrates solar and wind energy sources at the input and provides a regulated output for the load. The surplus energy is stored in the battery and can be utilized later on in the absence of renewable energy sources. Both the input sources can power up the load individually and simultaneously. In addition to provide a regulated output voltage, the converter is also capable of harvesting the maximum power from the sources. The converter operates in several modes depending upon the availability of input sources and load conditions. Analytical and simulation results in Continuous Conduction mode are presented for different operating modes and are validated by experiment results on a prototype model.
