Abstract

A rapid rise in human population is leading towards the continuous demand of the electric power resulting continuous degradation of the conventional energy resources. This has diverted our concern towards the clean energy sources i.e. renewable energy resources like sun, wind, hydel, and many more. The continuous rise in the demand of energy from renewable sources raises the need to combine more than one source together for more reliability and back up. This is eventually leading researchers towards hybrid renewable energy sources. To achieve this, a DC-DC converter consisting of dual inputs has been designed to improve the reliability as well as the input power extracted from various sustainable energy sources. In this paper solar energy and DC voltage source has been considered to produce sufficient power and complement each other when required. The proposed converter has been simulated in the MATLAB software as well as fabricated in the laboratory.
