Summary

Introduction

Preauricular sinus is a common congenital anomaly, which results from developmental failure of embryogenesis during which six hillocks normally fuse to form the auricle. All surgeries were performed under general anesthesia, and a surgical microscope was used for both the precise identification and the delicate dissection of the sinus tract. At the beginning of the surgery, a small amount of crystal violet solution was injected into the lumen of the sinus tract through the opening so that the entire sinus could be clearly identified during the surgery. A wedge-shape skin incision was made around the sinus opening at the crus of the helix.
