Abstract

Luminescent ferroelectric materials (LFM) have attracted considerable attention in recent years for the design and development of new multifunctional devices. In this work, different from conventional perovskite and bismuth layer-structured LFM, new plumbum-free LFM comprised of Ba4La0.666−xEuxNb10O30 (BLEN-x) were synthesized. All BLEN-x possess tetragonal tungsten bronze (TTB) structure with space group P4bm. Strong red emission, corresponding to the transitions of 5D0 to 7FJ (J = 1, 2, 3, 4), is observed that can be availably excited by both near ultraviolet (NUV) and blue light radiation. Meanwhile, greatly enhanced ferroelectric properties are also demonstrated. The effective regulation of luminescent and ferroelectric properties in present TTB-type compounds provides a reasonable route to develop LFM in the future.
