Abstract

Background and Aim: Hepatic osteodystrophy (HO) is common in HCV-cACLD but entailed fracture risk has not been explored. Fracture risk is governed by several clinical risk factors apart from bone mineral density (BMD). DEXA, the gold standard for BMD, is not widely available and entails radiation risks. Fracture risk assessment tool (FRAX) is validated for prediction of 10-year risk of major osteoporotic or hip fractures. It includes various clinical risk factors with BMD at femur neck being an optional input.
