Abstract
Ultra Wide Band (UWB) antenna from range from 3.1 to 10.6 GHz is field of research after its release in 2001 by Federal Communication Commission (FCC). Dual notch antenna has been proposed in this paper. It is monopole elliptical UWB antenna having microstrip line as a feedline. Dual band rejection is done with the help of via shorted complimentary split ring resonator (VSCSRR) metamaterial structure placed near the feedline. These structures disturb the current distribution and act as stop band filter rejecting 5.1 to 5.8 GHz of WLAN and 3.3 to 3.7 GHz of WiMAX band of frequencies. Due to dual notch characteristics the interference from ISM band namely WLAN and WiMAX to UWB band can be reduced considerably. Such UWB antenna is suitable for wide range of applications.
