Abstract

AbstractSelf‐similarity property of Gosper island prefractals is exploited to design frequency selective surfaces (FSSs) for dual‐band bandstop filter operation. The use of Gosper prefractal patch elements enables the adjustment of FSS parameters (resonant frequency and −10 dB bandwidth) according to the number of fractal iterations but without modifying their original size. Transmission properties of proposed FSSs are characterized by means of simulations and measurements. Four FSS prototypes were fabricated and measured. The obtained results show an interesting dual‐band behavior. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 54:771–775, 2012; View this article online at wileyonlinelibrary.com.
