Abstract
ABSTRACTIn this article, the authors proposed a new structure able to convert signals linearly polarized generated by a microstrip antenna for circularly polarized signals at two operating bands (2.45 and 5.8 GHz), for use in portable radio frequency identification readers, using two miniaturized metasurfaces. All simulation results were obtained using the commercial software HFSS™. Prototypes were built and their characteristics were measured. We obtained a good agreement between simulated and measured results. The proposed structure is able to obtain linear to circular conversion in two bands of interesting, with a large bandwidth for return loss and axial ratio. The structure is simple and presents good advantages as low profile and low cost. © 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Microwave Opt Technol Lett 58:2294–2300, 2016
