Abstract
Digital signal processing (DSP) is having a major impact on advancing the state of the art of medical imaging. The advantages of DSP are well established: They operate in real time, they're highly reliable, and they are very energy efficient. They're also relatively inexpensive. But the medical imaging market continues to push for more technical innovation. That's putting more focus on higher image quality and designing smaller systems.
