Abstract

A digital-signal-processor-based control technique with constant tension control for the rewind roll of a paper machine is presented in this paper. The proposed methodology makes use of a digital signal processing technique to investigate the stability of a multiple closed-loop control system and then partition its operating area into optimal working regions. A novel data acquisition method is introduced in this paper to obtain fast responses of speed and tension. This technique is characterized by high reliability and flexibility in industrial applications.
