Abstract
Digital signal processing (DSP) technology has been at the heart of many technological advances not only in industry but in our daily lives as well. According to industry projections, the DSP market is expected to grow to about thirteen billion US Dollars by the year 2002. In order to keep pace with the rapidly expanding DSP applications, it is essential to make DSP an integral part of the curriculum in engineering institutions, and more importantly, to have it taught by adequately trained teachers. In this article, we trace the history of DSP education in India, outline the current status, discuss some concerns, and present a suggestion.
