Abstract
Introduction : All the endoscopy equipment are generally thermo sensitive requires a sensitive high-level disinfection instead of sterilization. Disinfection techniques are classified into three levels of action : low, intermediate and high. This later should cover the most resistant types of microorganisms namely spores. This disinfection should follow good practices, thus we have audited some units and we have established an inventory of current practice with respect to such disinfection standards. Materials and Methods : We evaluated 12 units that use endoscopy equipment by using a questionnaire that has been established taking into account the 5M Ichikawa diagram. Results: However, our study showed that currently the endoscopy equipment is not disinfected according to standards due to negligence or technical shortage. In this assessment, some weaknesses were identified in the current practice of such disinfection. These weaknesses affect several levels : the methodology, personnel, material, equipment and the environment. Conclusion: The endoscopy equipment requires rigorous disinfection and must comply with good practices. We should deploy the necessary of human and material resources to disinfect these devices and contribute to fight against nosocomial infections.
