Abstract

Drug-induced taste disorders have been recognized only recently and have added a new dimension to the study of this much-neglected sense by demonstrating the complexity of its biochemical regulation. Although a great many papers dealing with this subject have been published, the true number of both the disorders and the responsible drugs is probably higher than reported. It is due not only to the fact that taste disorders may go unnoticed by the patient, especially as a complete recovery is often made, but also that the prescribing physician does not systematically test for taste alterations.
