Abstract
Although tissue culture cells have been used for the study of lipid metabolism for a number of years it is within the last five years that the tremendous potential of this experimental system has been fully realized. The data that have been generated from cell culture studies have greatly broadened our basic knowledge of lipid metabolism. It is now an appropriate time to consider the possibilities of cell culture systems as a tool for screening for drugs that affect lipid metabolism.
