Abstract

Pyoderma gangrenosum, first described in 1930, 1 has always been recognized as a disease whose genesis and course are attributed to immunological defects. This very rare disease is frequently seen in association with various diseases of immunological genesis. Pyoderma gangrenosum appears in over 40% of patients suffering from ulcerative colitis. 2 We report a 38-yr old female patient suffering from florid ulcerative colitis with pyoderma gangrenosum. The lesions proved to be refractory to high doses of methyl prednisolone. Therapeutic plasma exchange treatment, was followed by healing.
