Abstract

Drug-related problems are event that can interfere with the outcome of therapy. DRP causes death, morbidity and increases the cost of treatment. Medication errors in pediatrics are common and can increase the risk of harm. Pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics of drugs in children will affect drug choice, dosage, dosage form, and dosing interval. Antibiotics are drugs that are often prescribed to pediatric. Based on review, dosing errors were the most common DRP in pediatric antibiotic therapy. Other DRPs that have the potential to occur in pediatric antibiotic therapy include inappropriate drug use, adverse drug reactions, drug interactions, and non adherence. The risk factors for DRPs are age, comorbidities, length of treatment, and the number of drugs. The presence of DRPs in pediatric antibiotic therapy can increase the risk of antibiotic resistance, increase treatment costs, and can affect treatment outcomes. The information in this article is expected to provide information related to the category of DRPs antibiotic therapy that is often used in pediatrics, and can be used as initial data for preventing DRPs and for further research.
