Abstract
The effects of ethionine on hepatic lipids, cytochrome P 450 and b 5, and drug metabolizing enzyme activities were compared with the effect of ethanol or phenobarbital. The pretreatment with ethionine almost completely blocked the inductive effect of ethanol or phenobarbital but increased aniline hydroxylase activity.
