Abstract

Sweet syndrome (acute febrile neutrophilic dermatosis) is a rare noninfectious disorder that typically presents with a sudden onset of painful erythematous papules/plaques/nodules that may be accompanied by fever, arthralgias, and extracutaneous manifestations.1 Sweet syndrome is thought to be a hypersensitivity reaction to drugs, bacteria, viruses, or tumor antigens leading to a cytokine cascade.2,3 Hypersensitivity reactions have been described in patients taking direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs), which have become increasingly used in patients with conditions requiring chronic anticoagulation.
