Abstract

No successful drug education program can ignore either the affective or the cognitive domains. In this paper, a model for the intermediate level is suggested. It includes a development of rational thought processes through scientific experiments concerning the effects of foreign chemicals on biological processes. However, the main emphasis is placed on the moral development of children at this age level. Although sophisticated moral development and value clarification systems are available, the specific needs that arose from the cognitive domain of the present proposal caused the authors to utilize more definitive affective units. Examples of the type of units are described in this paper with a correlation to the specific moral level with which each unit deals.
