Abstract

In the present study an evaluation of drudgery level for the farmers of Odisha in India, during harvesting of paddy. Two cases were considered for this evaluation such as when using serrated sickle manually for harvesting, and the other when using power tiller reaper. It was observed from the measured ergonomic parameters that a reduction of 26.61 % occurred in drudgery by the use of power tiller reaper in comparison to used serrated sickle. Correlation coefficient matrix was obtained for both the cases considering the ergonomic parameters. Further the SWOT analysis was carried out for the power tiller reaper, and then the corresponding farmers’ opinions were obtained for assessing the acceptability of both the agricultural tools.
