Abstract

Question: A 65-year-old obese woman presented to a local emergency department for the evaluation of acute onset of chills, nausea, anorexia, and fatigue. Past surgical history was relevant for laparoscopic cholecystectomy 5 years before presentation. The initial operation was complicated by fluid collections within the gallbladder fossa requiring repeat surgery, drain placement, and prolonged courses of antibiotics. Approximately 2 months before presentation, she had experienced recurrent abdominal symptoms, including pain and nausea.
