Abstract

An inlet calibration is presented for sampling liquid droplets in the presence of crosswinds with an omni-directional inlet. Efficiency data as a function of Stokes number and curves for the integral parameters droplet number and volume concentration are presented. Droplet number concentration decreases at ca 7% for each 1 m s −1 increment in wind speed, while the volume concentration decreases at 9% per 1 m s −1 increment in wind speed. A comparison to calculations for thin-walled inlets at 90° orientations of the wind is presented.
