Abstract

SummaryDetection of Gm and Inv Types has been enhanced by the use of frozen red cells. After sensitization, red cells are frozen as discrete droplets by spraying onto liquid nitrogen (‐196°C). Only the quantity of cells necessary for a Gm or Inv test needs to be thawed. The remaining frozen sensitized red cell droplets will retain their antigenicity for years.
