Abstract

Paraganglioma is a rare neoplasm, originating from the autonomic nervous system, usually occurs in the head and neck. Involvement of the spine is less common and usually takes the form of intradural compression of the cauda equina. Drop foot resulting from paraganglioma is very rare. We present a case of paraganglioma which arose from the left L5 root with intraspinal compression, displaying lower back pain, bilateral lower legs paresthesia and left drop foot. We review the literature of spinal paragangliomas.
